ABOUT ME
My name is Edward Baueris and I am a freelance graphic artist who
creates work using analogue and digital techniques. I currently live in Sydney,
Australia.
I have always been drawing and I developed this in my high school years, being
shortlisted for Art express. This was followed by completing a bachelor of fine arts from Sydney College of the Arts (part of Sydney University). I am now
working as a freelance artist, focusing on illustration.
I am available to create imagery for children and adult's books, comics, graphic
novels, websites, posters, brochures, concept art...you name it. I am flexible with my style and medium and can adapt to what the project requires. Check out my gallery for examples of some of the work I have created recently.
INFLUENCES
I draw upon a lot of influences in my work, but a few have stood out over the years. I started collecting American comics as a kid and watched a lot of cartoons, so these informed my early drawing style. As I grew older I discovered Japanese comics and animation as well as great artists and illustrators of history - education is good for something after all! I was lucky enough to spend 6 months living in Japan, which allowed me to experience first hand a culture I had admired from afar. I would say even video games have played a role in my work, as a relatively new medium it is still developing but it is a place like movies where a lot of different forms come together to form a cohesive whole. Just like a good movie a good video game can leave a lasting effect...if I can ever find the time to play one! In my drawing I tend to drift between a few different styles, but they usually end up somewhere between American and Japanese comics
